The Idea Engine is a blog I started as a way to channel my passion for writing—shortly before realizing that my novel-writing was taking precedence and would continue to. Now I have returned to it to share my creative works, experience, and anything that doesn’t belong on my author website.
I have loved to read since I was 11 years old and loved to write since I was 13. My passion for writing began to grow when I was almost 15, as I wrote my then-longest-running story of a fantasy world hidden underneath our own. This story stopped midway, but it taught me a lot about motivation and perseverance, because I had never thought it possible to write with dedication for such a continued period of time. From then on, I launched into many other projects, most of which are fantasy and few of which are at the completion stage of writing and editing yet.
As I delved more and more into my beloved genre—and increasingly into Sci-Fi as well—I came to realize that my skill lay in crafting whole new worlds—not modifying the existing one, because where is the fun in that?
My debut, Mani, is book one of the Mother Trilogy, and will be releasing in May 2024. I also have an ongoing fantasy web serial, Tales from the Earthen Sky, posted on Fridays on this blog.
About the Author
Jacob Gamber grew up in Araluen, Alagaësia and Fablehaven, and spent the remainder of his childhood in rural Pennsylvania, telling stories to sheep. When the time came to embark on his own journey to a fantasy world, he botched it thoroughly several times and eventually got a full-time factory job. Presently, he lives in eastern Ohio with his wife and child. He enjoys music, role-playing games and puzzles, and is reportedly allergic to bad love triangles.
